Shades Mills Training Run (Conquer the Canuck 2019 Course)

Next Saturday, November 17th, I will be hosting a 2 hour training/course intro run at Shades Mills for the 2019 Conquer the Canuck trail weekend event. We will assemble at the main trail shelter, located near boat launch. Follow direction signs as you enter the conservation. The run will go from 9 am until 11 am. Local power walker, Rene Belanger, will be the team captain for those wanting to walk the course.

The plan is to run the new full 8.33 km loop, starting and ending at our new start/finish area at the main trail shelter. Drop bags are an option at this location and out door toilets are just 100 meters from the start. I will mark the course with new Grand Prix flagging on all main turns on the course. Saturday's forecast is calling for plus 1 and 30% chance of snow flurries.  It may look very majestic on the trail this weekend!

Complimentary bottled water, Gatorade, bananas, cookies will be available at main trail shelter.

Thanks to the GRCA for offering a discounted $5.00 rate per runner or walker. Please pay at the main gate between 8:15 am - 9 am to get this discounted rate, otherwise it will cost $14.00 per car load, outside of this time slot, at the automated gate with debit or credit card. Those who have a season pass can drive to the gate on the right and use your membership card. Those paying will stay to the left as you enter the gate.

If you plan to attend next Saturday, please RSVP by 5 pm on Friday Nov 16th to conquerthecanuck@gmail.com . This will be a great help to me in planning the aid station supplies and greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share this memo with fellow runners looking for a group training run or just want to discover the best kept secret in Cambridge!

Good luck to all runners who plan to race in Batawa on Saturday in the last race in the outrace.ca series.

Happy trails,
