“Run With The Ultra Legends”
All are invited to Shades Mills Conservation on Saturday October 14th, 2017 at 9 am. This is a good opportunity to get familiar with the course should you decide to run the Conquer The Canuck next year.

Note, the GRCA have agreed to a slight trail change near the 1.5 km - 2.5 km as described in the last training run at Shades. This change will be reflective in the next week as we update our course map.

This is a no fee event on Oct 14th, the only cost will be a (discounted) gate fee of $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids. Please have exact change, if you can, as this will help the GRCA staff in moving vehicles through the gate quicker. For those interested in having Dominos pizza delivered at noon (optional), please bring an additional $5.00, to assist in covering the expense.

We will be starting this run at the official start line for the Conquer the Canuck 2018 and home of next year’s National 50 km Championship race. The start will be just down below the hill at the Toyota Nature Centre (follow signs). The main washrooms will be opened and are located approximately 200 meters from the start. The course will be flagged and directional signs on all turns on the course.

Our first Honorary guest will be Jack Judge from Kingston Ontario. After 12 unsuccessful attempts, my long-time friend Jack was successful in finishing the Haliburton Forest 100 miler, under the allowable time limit of 30 hours. Jack finished in a time of 29 hours 54 minutes and 13 seconds. Our second Honorary guest will be Don Bonnett from Port Dover. Don is an accomplished ultra runner and the first Canadian male runner to finish a 200 mile race, at this year’s Sulphur Springs event.  And our 3rd Honorary guest will be Debbie Bulten from Cambridge, Ontario. Debbie was the first Canadian female runner to finish a 200 mile race, at this years Sulphur Springs event. A presentation to all three guests will be made on behalf of the Kitchener/Waterloo running community. Presentation will occur between 9 am - 9:15 am and all three guests will have an opportunity to share their experience.

If you plan on attending this fun run, please confirm by Thursday October 12th. This will be a big help in the planning of gate staff and complimentary beverage at the aid station.

If you would like to be on our training run memo,  usually sent out on Monday evenings, please send us an email request at conquerthecanuck@gmail.com and we would be happy to add your contact to our email list.

Happy trails,
